Dinner for Six is dead
Long live Dinner for Six

Well, it was a relatively short and strange journey.
Dinner for Six was created about 4 years ago in order to produce some hardcore two-person scene action. Earlier this year, Megan Pedersen and Fuzzy Gerdes asked me to direct a long-form show for them at the Playground as part of their Director's Series. I was very honored and flattered. I submitted a big, ole list of show proposals and just for kicks I decided to throw in Dinner for Six as well. That was the one they chose.
The show was very well received and here are some of the reviews.

The run at the Playground <http://www.the-playground.com/> eventually ended, but the cast wanted to continue doing the show together somewhere else. There were some amazingly cool offers put forth and the cast
decided to put it up this December at the ImprovOlympic.

The cast has created D46 Productions for the sole purpose of producing this show. They're all producing and have leased the idea from me and hired me as director and creative consultant. This run at ImprovOlympic, so far, is just for December. With the regrettable exception of the incredible Mary Jo Bolduc, the entire cast is returning.

But what is Dinner for Six?
Put simply, the cast creates six people on stage. They are all interrelated somehow and most are romantically involved with someone else on stage. We discover the relationships during the first group scene (which always takes place at a dinner. Also, the topic of conversation is given to the improvisers seconds before the show begins.) The players remain those characters and those characters only for the entire 60 minutes. The show is about how these six people relate to each other; no waiters, no game show hosts, no aliens. If I had to categorize the show, I imagine it would be a romantic comedy.

Dinner for Six is beginning its December run @ ImprovOlympic on December 1st, 2000. It will run on Fridays @ 10:30pm. Free cookies.

Here are some reviews of the current run.
